The Program in AL/TESOL at Teachers College, Columbia University wishes 
to appoint a full-time lecturer for an initial one-year appointment 
beginning September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018. A successful 
appointee demonstrating excellence in the position may subsequently 
become eligible for multi-year contracts.

*Responsibilities:*

Candidates should have the ability to teach courses in the following 
areas: second language assessment, research methods (quantitative and 
qualitative), and some other areas ofAL/TESOL (e.g., computer-assisted 
language learning/assessment, portfolio assessment, pedagogical grammar, 
language teaching practicum). Candidates should also have a strong 
background in quantitative analysis. The teaching load is five courses 
per academic year. Candidates might also be asked to teach one course 
during a summer session for additional compensation. Candidates will 
need to advise M.A. students, serve on dissertation committees, 
participate in routine program administrative activities, and build and 
retain a research and professional profile in language assessment.

*Qualifications*

Earned doctorate in Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field, and 
evidence of scholarship potential in second language assessment. 
Candidate must have formal training and experience with quantitative 
analysis in AL/TESOL, a strong record of ESL and/or EFL teaching 
experience in a variety of contexts, a demonstrated record of graduate 
level teaching, emerging evidence of service to the field of AL/TESOL, 
the ability to perform administrative duties, and the ability to work 
collaboratively.
