[Linganth] Society for Linguistic Anthropology Sapir Book Prize Awards for 2017

The 2017 Society for Linguistic Anthropology Edward Sapir Book Prize is
awarded to Kathryn Woolard for her book *Singular and Plural: **Ideologies
of Linguistic Authority in 21st Century Catalonia. *Honorable mentions are
awarded to Sonia Das for *Linguistic Rivalries:** Tamil Migrants and
Anglo-Franco Conflicts* and to Erika Hoffmann-Dilloway for *Signing and
Belonging in Nepal.*



The award is made at the SLA business meeting which, for 2017, will be
Saturday December 2, 7:45 PM.  The Sapir Book Prize was established in 2001
and is awarded to a book that makes the most significant contribution to
our understanding of language in society, or the ways in which language
mediates historical or contemporary sociocultural processes.
