Position Summary

We are interested in a broad range of historical and/or social scientific approaches to the study of health and health care in the Middle East and North Africa. Given current student interests and the importance of developing certain regional studies within UA Middle East studies, the position has a preferred focus on Egypt, North Africa, or Turkey, although applications from specialists in any area of the Middle East and North Africa are welcome.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position requires a 2/2 teaching load, maintenance of an active program of research and publication, and appropriate service to the college, university, and profession. The successful candidate will be well qualified to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching; conduct research in or centrally related to the Middle East and/or North Africa; have potential for externally supported research; and have an interest in participating in outreach activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates are expected to have the PhD in hand prior to start of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in at least one Middle Eastern language is highly desirable (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish or a related language).
