*Full time starting salary is normally in the range £51,799 to £60,022, 
with potential progression once in post to £78,265*

**The School of Education at the University of Birmingham is seeking to 
appoint an Associate Professor in Language, Social Justice and Education 
to join the Department of Education and Social Justice, School of Education.

As one of the University’s largest Schools, the School of Education has 
a central role in advancing the research and teaching standing of the 
University. The School enjoys a strong global reputation as a centre of 
excellence for the academic study of education. In REF2014, the School 
ranked first in the UK for environment and second for the quality of its 
outputs. The postholder will also contribute to the intellectual 
community of the School and conduct/disseminate outstanding research of 
international quality that complements the School’s existing research 
priorities.

The post will provide academic leadership, teaching and module 
management, mainly for MA provision in the fields of TESOL Education and 
Bilingualism in Education, as well as contribution to and leading the 
MOSAIC Research group. There may be scope to develop new areas of 
teaching related to the appointee’s expertise.

The School is looking to strengthen its research/teaching profile in the 
interdisciplinary area of language, social justice and education.

The successful candidate will normally have a higher Degree relevant to 
the research/teaching area (usually PhD) close to completion or 
equivalent qualifications. The postholder must also demonstrate a 
research profile within the subject specialism reflected by a growing 
international reputation and publication record. Therefore, when
