The Society for Linguistic Anthropology is currently seeking to fill the

three positions. However, the member will have to go through the same
process of being nominated or self-nominating and will have to enter the
nomination process by filling the acceptance form for each position. The
deadline for nominations is November 3rd!

SLA Nominations Committee Member

The SLA Nominations Committee organizes candidate slates for elected
leadership positions in the SLA. The term for the Nominations Committee is
three years and begins at the conclusion of the 2023 AAA meetings.
Committee members maintain communication with the section president
regarding position openings, help formulate position descriptions, and
assist in the identification and recruitment of candidates for appointed
positions. The committee works with the AAA staff to ensure that ballots
and candidate slates meet AAA guidelines. As members of the SLA extended
board, members of the SLA Nominations Committee receive an annual stipend
of $250 toward attending the AAA annual meeting. Each member will serve as
chair of the committee in their third and final year. For questions about
the committee, please contact Georgia Ennis (gennis at wcu.edu).

Section Program Editor-Elect

The SLA Section Program Editor is responsible for building the program for
Society for Linguistic Anthropology’s contributions to the AAA Annual
Meetings. The term for the Section Program Editor is three years. The
selected candidate will serve as a Section Program Committee Member and
receive mentoring from the current Section Program Editor during their
first year (2023-2024). They will assume the role of Section Program Editor
from 2024-2026. This is an excellent position for SLA members interested in
fostering, overseeing, and supporting cutting edge research in the field.
Duties include working with the SLA Executive Board to inform the SLA
membership and linguistic anthropology community about upcoming deadlines,
soliciting and/or selecting submitted Invited Panels for the sub-section,
coordinating a committee to review submitted panels, and organizing
individual papers into panels to be reviewed. As a member of the SLA
extended board, the SLA Program Chair receives an annual stipend of $250
toward attending the AAA annual meeting. For questions about the position,
please contact Sandhya Narayanan (snarayanan at unr.edu)

Member at Large

The Member at Large will work together with the SLA President, the SLA
President-Elect, the Secretary-Treasurer, and two other Members at Large to
oversee the administration of the society. The term for the Member at Large
position lasts three years and begins at the conclusion of the 2024 AAA
meetings. Members at Large assist the President with internal SLA
initiatives, including the annual student paper prizes, the book prizes,
and conference and event planning. Members at Large receive an annual
stipend of $250 toward attending the AAA annual meeting. For questions
about the position, please contact the current Members at Large (
slamemberatlarge at gmail.com)

Please note, Member at Large is an elected position, with the election
