        New Roman",serif;color:black">The Anthropology Department
        at Skidmore College invites applications for up to two one-year,
        full-time visiting assistant professor positions in cultural
        anthropology.  The position begins September 2017. </span><span
        style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New
        Roman",serif">The College is especially interested in
        candidates who can contribute to the growing diversity and
        excellence of the academic community, particularly through their
        inclusive teaching. <span style="color:black">We seek a broadly
          trained cultural anthropologist with fieldwork experience in
          Africa, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia or another
          geographic area that complements existing faculty expertise in
          East Asia, Latin America, and North America.  We seek
          candidates with topical interests that complement existing
          department offerings, including

        sexuality, linguistics, medical anthropology, and religion.

        Roman",serif;color:black">The position requires teaching 3
        courses each semester, including Introduction to Cultural
        Anthropology, as well as upper-level geographic and topical
        courses.  Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching,
        active scholarship and fieldwork, and a strong commitment to
        undergraduate education at a liberal arts college.

        teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and
        should highlight any specific knowledge and skills related to
        building an inclusive educational environment in their

        curriculum vitae, a letter of application that addresses the
        aspects of teaching and research described in the position, and
        the names and contact information of three references.
        Applicants should include in their letter of interest
        information about how they will effectively engage with issues
        of diversity in the classroom as well as on campus or in the
        broader community.  After an initial review of applications, a
        short list of final candidates will be asked to submit
        additional materials, including academic transcripts, course
        descriptions, sample syllabi, course evaluations, and a writing
        sample. Preliminary Skype interviews with candidates will be
