<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0">I am hoping to put together a panel for the Spring (Portland) SAS meetings on the topic of
<strong>Linguistic Methods in Cognitive Anthropology</strong>. If you are interested, please email me at

<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0">Roughly speaking, I am for panelists to discuss specifically linguistic methods within cognitive anthropology. In the 60s and 70s ethnosemantic / ethnoscientific approaches were always both cultural and linguistic in
focus, and in the early days of cultural models (e.g. Holland and Quinn's <em>Cultural models in language and thought</em>) this was also explicit, but contemporary linguistic anthropologists more rarely use specifically cognitive frameworks. What can we
do now with linguistic data that enhances theory and knowledge-building in cognitive anthropology? Presenters might focus on any of the following (or other pertinent approaches): lexical semantics, pragmatics and cognition, conceptual metaphor, corpus linguistics,
schema approaches to conversation / discourse, narratives and cognition. <br>
