<p class="MsoNormal">Just a note on The Linguists, these fellows are doing a sort of “salvage” linguistics that makes me very uncomfortable, portrayed as the Great White Hope sort of figure in the film. I use it, but with critique and caveats. I also have a
colleague who works with speakers of an endangered language in the Amazon basin – he indicates that local experience where “The Linguists” showed up was not exactly positive.<o:p></o:p></p>
