<div dir="auto">Like most of us, Leila's family was only peripherally aware of her academic family. They are so touched, and perhaps surprised, by how much love there is in this academic community. Leila told me so often that Linganth was a type of
 family for her. A home. I think Leila had a sort of power to create community with the force of her affection - and her persistence. I remember those early Linganth gatherings she would organize back in the mid 90s. The first year or two only a handful of
 people showed up. But it didn't matter. She looked out at an SLA gathering and saw a community of people trying to talk about something they found important. She loved this community.</div>
