anthropologist and activist were immeasurable. Her research and
writing focused on deaf sociality, disability justice, equity,
and social justice. As a scholar, her work contributed to
disrupting and transforming unjust social institutions and
decolonizing space and discourse. This special issue of
Practicing Anthropology is intended to honor the impact of
Leila's work through articles on the many topics she impacted.</span></p>
