The Society for Linguistic Anthropology (SLA) is looking to fill the position of Social Media Manager starting Jan 2023. The position—typically filled by graduate students or recent PhD—comes with a stipend of $2,000 per year. The tenure for this position is
three years. The responsibilities are below. As the SLA Social Media Manager represents the official voice of the Society for Linguistic Anthropology, it requires someone with the ability to maintain an active, engaged presence online, in particular, on social media.</p>

The tasks are as follows:<br>
- work closely with the SLA digital director to manage the online presence of SLA<br>
- send out SLA announcements and links to the SLA website on Facebook and Twitter<br>
- tweet and post relevant items (including announcements of new journal publications, vetted news articles, related blogs, etc.)<br>
- on Twitter, engage with users by following and promoting #linganth, retweeting relevant tweets, responding to direct messages<br>
- on Facebook, respond to comments (when appropriate) and direct messages sent to the account<br>
- assist in managing the SLA Blog. This includes helping to source for new writers and editing short-form articles for the blog</p>

Qualifications:<br>
- sustained (but not necessarily prominent) presence on Twitter and/or Facebook for at least two years<br>
- some research experience with/about social media platforms (i.e. a conference paper or workshop)<br>
- basic knowledge of WordPress preferred</p>
