<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-IE">The Center for the Study of Language and Society (CSLS) at the University of Bern and the Swiss Federation for the Deaf (SBG-FSS) are delighted to announce a two-day workshop "Languages and
Lives in Deaf Communities", which will take place in Bern and online on <b>18-19 November 2022</b>.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-IE"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-IE">During these two days, 11 Deaf scholars will present their research on various topics related to sign languages and Deaf communities, including issues of identity, accessibility, education,
multilingualism, and linguistic variation (see program attached). Group discussions will also take place in which workshop participants can ask questions and share their own experiences. The goal of the event is to make Deaf communities more visible in all
their linguistic and cultural aspects, to discuss obstacles faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing people, and to promote academic research in the field.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
