medical anthropology beginning Fall 2025, pending budgetary approval. We seek candidates whose work merges the study of health inequities with themes including (but not limited to) race and racial ideology, trauma and resilience, environmental pollution/(in)justice,
slow violence, migration, food and nutrition, or disability. We particularly encourage applicants whose research has involved substantive community engagement, and who will be ready to teach and mentor students in participatory methodologies and engaged/public/activist
anthropology. This candidate would become a key part of the Department’s Joint Degree PhD-MPH Program. Regional focus is open and should complement existing departmental strengths; however, research in North America will receive special attention. Finally,
we welcome candidates whose expertise relates “Race and Social Determinants of Equity, Health and Well-being,” which was the focus of a recent cluster hire at Pitt.</span></span></p>
