Dear colleagues -

Like many of you perhaps, I'm revising syllabi for the upcoming semester.
I'm wanting to add a week on AI and language to my intro-level Language,
Culture, and Communication undergrad course.

Does anyone have readings to suggest that you've successfully used with
undergraduates on this topic? Any suggestions are very welcome and I'll be
happy to compile them and send them out to the list again in case others
are interested.

best,

Dear list readers,

Afternoon! And a big *thank you* for your patience in reading several requests from me for help with asylum cases. Just wanted to send along some very happy news.

The young man who needed help with Quechua translation has been granted asylum, thank God. He received an outpouring of help from this listserv. One academic, in particular, gave testimony in court (for free!) And the
judge specifically cited the expert testimony as a reason for her yes decision.

Many of you helped with offers of translation and other guidance ? that is really great. Hope that you can smile a bit right now!

Getting asylum in these times is nothing easy. So it is really an amazing thing. If anybody has any use for information about this kind of case (persecution based on LGBT identity in Bolivia), definitely reach out to me! And we
are still looking for possible experts to help with a young man who is from a Mam-speaking community in Guatemala. (And possibly also for a Q'eqchi'-speaking family from Guatemala.) Thank you for those who have already offered leads! If anyone has more ideas
please let me know.

Much appreciation for your generosity. Grateful

OK? sending good wishes,
