*Apologies for Cross Posting*<br><br>Colleagues, <br><br>The International Society for Landscape, Place, and Material Culture (formerly Pioneer America Society) will be holding its 50th Annual Meeting from September 26-29 in New Orleans. Please join us! This group seeks inclusion of scholars from a variety of disciplines and geography has always provided strong participation. <br><br>In addition to encouraging faculty scholar presentations at this conference, the Wilhelm-Keiffer Award Committee also invites submissions for this year's award competition, dedicated to poster presentations by undergraduate scholars. <strong>Should you have a current/continuing undergraduate or incoming Masters student with a project worthy of dissemination, please encourage them to participate</strong>. Abstracts for the conference and Wilhelm-Keiffer Award are due August 31, after most of us reconvene for the fall term, so you will have at least a little time to meet with students and
 encourage their participation and abstract submission. I do apologize for this late notice. Brief guidelines are posted below and full guidelines are attached and available on the Society's website (linked below).<br><span style="word-break:break-all">___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________</span><br>
<p><br>In honor of the contributions of both Dr. Hubert Wilhelm and his protégé, Dr. Artimus Keiffer, the Wilhelm family has generously agreed to sponsor the Wilhelm-Keiffer Student Research Award which will provide current and recently graduated undergraduate students with the opportunity to compete for a research award in the field of material culture studies. </p>
<p>This award includes a $250 reimbursement towards conference travel, a reimbursement of the student's conference registration and awards banquet, a one-year ISLPMC student membership, and an engraved plaque.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Students in any ISLPMC-relevant field (including but not limited to Geography, Preservation, Material Culture, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Studies, Archeology, Sociology) who are working toward an undergraduate degree in an accredited program, or who have graduated from such a program within one academic year of the submission deadline, are eligible for the Wilhelm-Keiffer Student Research Award. Work presented on the poster must be from undergraduate research.</li>
<li>The applicant will present a poster at the annual ISLPMC meeting during a designated Poster Session. The poster and accompanying presentation should demonstrate 1) scholarly merit, 2) quality topic selection and organization, and 3) well-crafted uses of theory, methodology, and field work.</li>
<li><strong>The deadline for submissions is 5pm August 31, 2018</strong><em>.</em>A max 300-word abstract (the same as what is submitted with registration) accompanied by a one-page statement of the student's interest in material culture, broadly defined, must be sent to the Wilhelm-Keiffer Award Chair by the deadline. Submissions for the award should be sent as a Word (.doc/x) or PDF document directly to the Wilhelm-Keiffer Award Committee Chair, Dr. Chris Post, via email to: <u><a href="mailto:cpost2@kent.edu" title="mailto:cpost2@kent.edu" target="_blank">cpost2@kent.edu</a></u>. Any questions may also be directed to Dr. Post, Dr. Elizabeth Vidon (<u><a title="about:blank">esvidon@esf.edu)</a></u>, or Dr. Ellen Hostetter (<u><a href="mailto:ehostetter@uca.edu" title="mailto:ehostetter@uca.edu" target="_blank">ehostetter@uca.edu</a></u>).<span> </span></li>
