Subject: Day 2 of the Advisors' Challenge

Dear Linguists,

Here we are, in the second day of the Advisors' Challenge! In the
challenge, the LINGUIST List Advisory Board pledged $2,000 of their
own money to LINGUIST, but only if you help us raise $8,000 in 48
hours.

Thanks to those of you who have already donated, we are already well
on our way to meeting this challenge: there is only $2,467 to go.
This is just a little more than a single $100 donation per hour.
Right now, can you be that $100 donor? Donate now at
http://linguistlist.org/donation/

In a previous Fund Drive message, we offered extra special prizes to
the first five $100 donors who would push us to our first day goal of
$4,000. The five are:

Yoko Hasegawa
Andrea Levitt
Larisa Zlatic

and two anonymous donors. Thanks to Rusudan Amirejibi-Mullen, Gang
Gu, Claus Pusch and Sage Publications who generously donated these
prizes.

Thanks again to all of you who have already donated, and, of course,
to the LINGUIST Advisors. If you have not already donated, please do
so now, so that we can meet the Advisors' Challenge and our fund drive
goal!

With much appreciation,

The LINGUIST Crew

There are many ways to donate to LINGUIST!

You can donate right now using our secure credit card form.

Alternatively you can also pledge right now and pay later.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University
and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is
a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is
38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and
sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more
information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will
match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this
entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us
a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer.
This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the
value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny.
Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.

Note: the donors' names are appended to every fund drive message sent
to the main list. You can also see the list of all donors by clicking

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
