Dear colleagues,

who feels like coming to the defense of implicational universals, or at any
rate deliberating their pros and cons, in light of possible objections
questioning the statistical significance of the crosslinguistic
generalisations that they seek to capture?

LINGUISTIC TYPOLOGY is publishing a discussion piece, "Against
Implicational Universals" by Michael Cysouw (joint ALT Prize Winner of
2001), in one of the next issues, and the Editorial Board is soliciting
reactions to it. Those found worthiest to be presented to the reading
public at large will be published alongside the paper.

Get in touch, whoever has a stake in this, and I'll send you the target
article per attachment.
