Yes, I think there is definitely a marked intonation pattern:

a. in case of the personal agent / I:

Ik zal hem LEREN^ < > 
I will TEACH^ him < >
(note that the < > position may be empty when it
 is clear from the context what the offense is;
 it then becomes just a direct threat with repercussions>

b. in case of the DEM:

DAT^ zal hem leren <>
THAT^ will teach him <>
