Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa (ILCAA)
at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies invites applications for full-time
faculty staff positions.

1. Positions: 2 full-time faculty staff positions

2. Rank: Applications are invited for a position at either of the following
ranks:
a) Associate Professor with tenure
b) Assistant Professor with a five-year limited term appointement
Note that this position is a tenure-track position. The appointee would be
eligible to apply for a tenured Associate Professor position after
completing two years of service.

3. Qualifications:
(a) The applicant must have demonstrated expertise in any of the following
areas: linguistics, cultural anthropology, history, or area studies of
regions in Asia (excluding Japan) or Africa. Applicants with expertise in
linguistics or cultural anthropology are preferred.
(b) Applicants must already have received, or will have received a
doctorate by the date of appointment.
(c) Applicants must have an excellent research program and a demonstrated
ability to plan and lead creative, cutting-edge joint research projects.
(d) Applicants must have sufficient proficiency in Japanese for
administrative duties.

4. Appointment to begin April 1, 2013:
 The appointment may, however, start at a later date if there are
reasonable grounds for a delay.

5. Application deadline: Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
