Call for volunteers and nominations: ALT Scientific Committee

For the 2015 ALT Conference the Executive Committee is starting up a new
procedure for reading and ranking abstracts. To increase the membership’s
involvement in the program, and to broaden the range of subfields
represented among abstract readers, we will appoint a Scientific Committee
to help the Program Committee read and rate abstracts. Nominations and
self-nominations for the Scientific Committee are now open. Members must
be ALT members and must have a Ph.D.

Workload of the Scientific Committee:

Abstract reading will take place in late January to early February.
Scientific Committee members will read abstracts in their own subfields.
The number of abstracts per member will probably be 5-15 (it depends on
the size of the committee and the number of abstracts submitted)

The Nominating Committee will evaluate the nominations and appoint the
Scientific Committee.

YES, Scientific Committee members can submit abstracts for the 2015
conference.

How to volunteer or nominate: Send an email to:

      nominations.alt at gmail.com

Include your (or your nominee’s) full name, institution, email address, and
area(s) of interest and expertise using these subfields:

phonetics/phonology
morphology
syntax
semantics
discourse/pragmatics
historical lingusitics
sociolinguistics
foundations/methodology
other

(These will help the Program Committee assign abstracts to readers.)

DEADLINE for nominations and volunteers: November 15, 2014.
