pleasure of hosting *APLL9*, the 9th edition of the conference on *Austronesian
and Papuan Languages and Linguistics*.

APLL9 follows the highly successful APLL7 and APLL8 conferences held in
London, and the Austronesian Languages and Linguistics (ALL) conferences held
at SOAS <https://www.soas.ac.uk/linguistics/research/apll/> and St
Catherine's College Oxford in previous years. For its ninth edition, APLL
will be convened in Paris – more precisely, at the campus of the* Institut
nation**al des langues et civilisations orientales *(INALCO), our

The purpose of the APLL conferences is to provide a venue for presentation
of the best* current research on Austronesian and Papuan languages and
linguistics*, and to promote collaboration and research in this area. All
papers will be subject to assessment by the Program Committee.

This event is scheduled for three days, *21-23 June 2017*.


Important dates

   - Deadline for submission of abstracts: *Friday, 18 November 2016* via
   EasyChair <https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=apll9>.
   - Notification of acceptance: *Tuesday, 20 December 2016*


Call for papers

Abstracts are now invited for the APLL9 conference. We welcome
presentations on any aspect of the *linguistic analysis of Austronesian or
Papuan languages*.


Presentations will be 30 minutes followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Each
individual may present up to one single authored paper and one joint paper.

Abstracts should be no more than one A4 page in length including references
and examples. They should be anonymous, and set in a minimum of 12pt font.
They should be in .docx or .pdf format and the filename should start with
APLL9, followed by an underscore and then first authors' surname, e.g.
APLL9_bloggs.pdf. If you have a common surname, please also include
initials, e.g. APLL9_jjones.pdf.

Abstracts must be submitted via the EasyChair system which you can access
by clicking on this link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=apll9  If
you do not have an EasyChair account already, you will need to create one
when you do this. Once logged in, complete your details and upload your
abstract as an attachment (pdf or docx).


The deadline for the submission of all abstracts is Friday 18 November
2016.  Applicants will be notified of abstract acceptance by Tuesday 20
December 2016.
