[Lingtyp] papercopy LT

As I understand it, no-one is suggesting that the print copy entirely
disappear from everyone's subscriptions. I think Sebastian just wanted to
opt-out, and wondered if others felt the same. It may be that these two
options were not available for all users, or that everyone hasn't been made
aware of them. Is that right Sebastian?

I'm glad that Frans is checking up on this and if members can change
settings.

I like it when a department or library has a nice little display section of
latest issues of journals for browsing, but I don't need a paper copy
myself personally. I hope that ANU library subscribes to what I need, and
would be thrilled if my department/centre had a display area (but that's a
discussion for another time and internally).

On Jianming's note, other research fields have moved to more focus on
conference proceedings publishing rather than journal for new hot research,
since they usually have a faster publishing schedule. There's also a few
serious blogs publishing pieces that are comparable to some journal
articles (Diversity Linguistics Comment, Replicated Typo or phylonetworks
to name a few). Naturally, there's also a lot of unserious blogs too, but
don't let that fool you into thinking they're all bad.

I can also recommend checking out some Open Access alternatives in this
list we've compiled:
