Department of Linguistics is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research

will be in conducting research on AHRC-funded project “Prominent Possessors”
under the <span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">direction of Professor Irina Nikolaeva </span></span><span style="text-align:justify;line-height:13.7pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">as
Principal Investigator. The project involves a close cooperation with the
University of Surrey. Its aim is to investigate a number of unusual possessive
constructions </span><span style="text-align:justify;line-height:13.7pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51)">from a theoretical
and cross-linguistic perspective, </span><span style="text-align:justify;line-height:13.7pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51)">collect new data
from little studied related and unrelated languages, and compile a typological database

theory and typology, and a strong research background as evidenced by an excellent
publication record are essential.The successful candidate will have fieldwork
experience, and previous experience of designing/using databases will be an
advantage. Also required are an ability to work independently in an organised
and methodical manner, excellent written and oral communication skills, and
strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.  </span></p>
