Last week, John Davey passed away, a former editor at Oxford
University Press.<br>
<br>
He was instrumental in making OUP an important publisher in
linguistics since the 1990s.<br>
<br>
He was in charge of the <a
href="https://global.oup.com/academic/product/the-world-atlas-of-language-structures-9780199255917?cc=de&lang=en&">World
Atlas of Language Structures</a> and the <a
href="https://global.oup.com/academic/product/the-atlas-of-pidgin-and-creole-language-structures-9780199691395">Atlas
of Pidgin and Creole Language Structures</a> (plus the <a
href="https://global.oup.com/academic/product/the-survey-of-pidgin-and-creole-languages-9780199691432">Survey</a>),
as well as OUP's "red typology series" (<a
href="https://global.oup.com/academic/content/series/o/oxford-studies-in-typology-and-linguistic-theory-ostlt">Oxford
Studies in Typology and Linguistic Theory</a>).<br>

It was a great pleasure to work with him, and many of us owe him a
lot.<br>
