Philip Baker, formerly of SOAS, and who had retired to Sri Lanka where he was running his Battlebridge publishing operation, has left behind work described as follows by a local friend:<br>

He was working on a research based project in Vedda language which is a language of a small indigenous community. Since it was partially based on Sinhala language which is my native language, I was helping for the translations when we visit a teacher who is
an expert in Vedda language and also from the same community.<br>
