since you don't mention it, let me remind you of the Latin "relative
adjunction" (<i>relativischer Anschluss</i>), which is very
prominent in Old (Plautus) and Classical (Cicero, Caesar) Latin and
may well have provided the model for this construction in various
modern European languages. Needless to say, the topic is treated
(with references to earlier literature) in <a
