I am working on the syntax of the Hammurabi Laws (Old Babylonian Akkadian, a Semitic language). Both protases and apodoses are syntactically complex: a given protasis may use all four finite tense forms of Old Babylonian, it may have up to five verbs, and these may be connected by two different coordinating particles or asyndetically. I try to find rules but feel that I am lacking theory/metalanguage.

Thank you very much,

Sergey
