Department of Linguistics invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Linguistics, to begin in August 2020. We seek candidates specializing in typology, whose research orientation is compatible with our commitment to cognitive, functional,
usage-based approaches to linguistic explanation. Competitive applicants will have additional expertise in language description, language documentation, corpus linguistics or discourse analysis. A successful candidate will be capable of teaching courses at

concerned with the study of languages native to the Americas, signed languages, and varieties of Spanish. We are especially interested in scholars who will enhance our existing strengths in linguistic typology, cognitive linguistics, language documentation
