to "put weight on somebody" -> put pressure on -> bother
-> interrogate, audit and also put pressure on -> mobilize.</div>
<div class="moz-cite-prefix">Arriving could be seen as putting one's
own weight on those already gathering. As Akkadian doors were
massive, to close them would also mean to put weight on the door
sockets.</div>

levy’, ‘to weigh’, ‘to
check, audit’, ‘to settle (a legal case)’, ‘to take (oath)’,
‘to keep, guard’, ‘to
close, shut (doors)’. What could be a “primary” meaning of
such a verb, and the
path of semantic derivation? How does it look like from
viewpoint of lexical
typology?</span></p>
