<span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif" lang="EN-GB">The SeDyL is a research unit which operates under the aegis of three institutions: the
</span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif" lang="EN-US">French National Centre for Scientific Research
</span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif" lang="EN-GB">(CNRS); the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO); and the Research Institute for Development (IRD). SeDyL’s lines of inquiry in Linguistics include
language description and documentation, linguistic typology (syntax, morphology, discourse), historical linguistics and sociolinguistics. The SeDyL has 47 staff members and it runs a number of research projects in different regions including the Americas,
West-Asia, the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa. </span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif" lang="EN-US"></span></p>

Applicants must hold a PhD in linguistics by the application deadline. The selection process at the CNRS is highly competitive. This year there are 4 places at early career level (Associate scientist or "Chargé de recherche"). It is advisable to have publications
in prestigious journals as well as to be part of an international research project, most often through a post-doc position.</span></p>
