Description:

Semantics and Pragmatics Assistant Professor, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH

The Department of Linguistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks to hire an Assistant Professor specializing in the study of linguistic meaning to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in semantics and pragmatics, conduct
research, and advise student research. The ideal candidate will bring both theoretical and methodological (e.g., experimentation or fieldwork) expertise to address fundamental research questions about linguistic meaning, and have a secondary specialization
in a related subfield, such as morphosyntax, philosophy of language, sociolinguistics, or psycholinguistics. We anticipate that the candidate will not only strengthen the department’s existing collaborations across units and colleges (e.g., with Philosophy,
Education, English, the Buckeye Language Network, the College of Engineering, and the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences), but also foster new ones. The department is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and outreach and we especially welcome applications
from under-represented scholars.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related field is required prior to the position start date of August 15, 2022.
