<p class="MsoNormal">It would depend on the definition of ¡¥syntactic argument,¡¦ I suppose. Not all complements in the first sense are considered syntactic arguments in RRG, whereas all complements in the second sense are considered syntactic arguments in Dependency
Grammar. But the relevant definitions of ¡¥syntactic argument¡¦ may not align. I can see that complements that aren¡¦t treated as syntactic arguments in RRG might still be treated as syntactic arguments (complements in the second sense) in Dependency Grammar.

The extension of the concept of complement is a bit ambiguous. I don't even know how to determine what a complement is sometimes. Perhaps different languages have different complements (e.g. Chinese complements). What is the definition of "complement" we are
talking about? Are the logical criteria for determining complements the same as those for attributive and adverbial? It would be interesting to know. Thanks!<br>
