Hinton, Nichols and Ohala 1994 "Sound Symbolism" is based on the papers of
a Conference on Sound Symbolism at U C Berkeley, January 16-17, 1986. Has
there been any similar conferences since? Are they any plans for a
forthcoming conference?

Subject: Thai transliteration

I am seeking a transliteration system for Thai. Desiderata are, in
order:

1. The system should be easily interconvertible with standard Thai
orthography.

2. The system should be pure ASCII, without diacritics that standard
keyboards lack.

3. The system should be standard and familiar to Thai scholars, or at
least easy for them to learn.

The system does _not_ need to capture any features that are not
represented in standard orthography, but it must capture all
orthographic features, even if they are not represented in speech; our
research will be restricted to written Thai.

Thank you for your assistance.

Subject: Voice impersonation

Does anyone know if there exist any publications on
voice impersonation? By this I am referring to a famous
person, for example, being impersonated by a comedian.

We are particularly interested in the phonetic aspects
of impersonation, such as what the impersonater does
to their voice to achieve a voice which sounds similar
to the target voice.
However, we would appreciate any reference within this
area.

If you are aware of anyone working in this field
we would appreciate their e-mail (or even snail-mail)
address.
