)         The 15th annual conference of SAALA (South African Applied
) Linguistics Association) will be held in Stellenbosch, South Africa from
) 10-12 July 1995. The theme of the conference is: "Constitutionally enshrined
) multilingualism: challenges and responses."
)                  The topic of multilingualism is an extremely topical and
) relevant one in South Africa today. The new constitution of South Africa
) makes provision for eleven official languages. This conference is an attempt
) to explore the issues that constitutionally enshrined multilingualism gives
) rise to.
