Dear all,

I am a student of computational linguistics at Bonn University (Germany).
As a part of my master thesis I reorganized a large word database that
was created in the 80s implementing it in a relational database managing
system (RDBMS). In addition to this practical work I want to summarize
information on all current projects on

  - word databases
  - machine readable/tractable dictionaries

in order to point out what is 'state-of-the-art'.

If you are working in one such project or know anything about one,
please send me any material you can (articles, books, papers,
internal reports, URLs, etc.),

The summary will be mailed to the linguist-list and to related newsgroups.

Best greetings,
Harald Elsen

Hello, I am completely new to this list. Forgive me if I have not yet
completed the Rites of Passage and make some errors according to the way
y'all usually run things.

My main reason for writing is that I was looking for information on adult
second language acquisition. I am writing a thesis for the Spanish
department on Adult SLA and most importantly the problems that Americans seem
to have with learning second languages. If anyone out there knows of any
good info that I could look into, please let me know. Any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Victoria Gilchrist
