Subject: query: decimal system in languages of the world
 
Hi! I'm doing some research into languages that make use of
non-decimal (ie. non-Base10) counting systems. I know of at least one
language where there is only partial adherence to Base 10 (Hawaiian)
but I am interested to know if there are any others that are out and
out duodecimal or hexidecimal or whatever. I tend to think any
discrepancies from the decimal system would be limited to Base 7 or 8
and on up to Base 12 at the most. And it seems to me that such
languages would be unlikely to be terribly advanced in terms of
mathematics or even counting beyond 40 to 1 or 200. If anyone can
point me in the direction of non-decimal counting systems and give me
names of langauges and, if possible, secondary sources, I'd be
grateful and I would be happy to post a summary to the list. Thanks!

I am especially interested in knowing if there are any that people
particularly recommend and if there are any that are deposited in Internet
libraries.

Dear Sir,
        I am writing a paper on Internet Resources for Language and Literature
Studies.I have seen a large number of e-texts of classics,on Project Gutenberg
and so on.Some of the advantages of having these texts in e-text form is
obvious but I would like to know more about the kind of studies/researches
done in recent years that have been made possible or made significantly
 easier due to the existence of e-text .Can you send me some references
 or guide me to a person or listserv or send me some
literature on the subject.I appreciate your help immensely.
