WANTED!
Creative linguists who appreciate the challenge of teaching

for a position at the Department of Linguistics, Uppsala University

The Department of Linguistics at Uppsala University invites applications
for a full-time
Lectureship in Computational Linguistics (Reference No: 2546/95)
for the term of one year with possibility of extension:
1995-07-01-1996-06-30

As of the autumn term of 1994, the Department of Linguistics offers a
four-year master=B4s program in Language Engineering. The program provides
unified professional training to meet current and future needs of Language
engineers. Language engineers develop, maintain and customize Language
products. In addition to professional qualification, the program also
qualifies students for graduate study in computational linguistics, the
theoretical basis for Language Engineering.

Your primary responsibility will be to teach courses in computational
linguistics (e. g. mathematical linguistics, statistical NLP, syntax,
semantics, and discourse) as part of our new curriculum in Language
Engineering. In addition, you will develop courses and laboratory exercises
within the Language Engineering program. Time is also allowed for
participation in the research projects of the department.

This position requires a thorough knowledge of computational and formal
linguistics. Positive weight will be given to experience in language
formalisation, such as exam papers for graduate studies with this focus
from educational programs in computational linguistics, computer science,
or system analysis. Considerable weight will be placed on personal
suitability.

More information on the position can be obtained by contacting Head of
Department Professor Anna S=E5gvall Hein, tel. +46 18 18 14 12, e-mail:
