I am working on a speech recognition project and would like to
automatically syllabify the words in my lexicon. I've been looking
for syllabification algorithms, but I am having a hard time finding
practical, clearly stated and complete algorithms that will provide
good coverage.

Does anyone know of such computationally implementable syllabification
algorithms? I will be happy to summarize any responses.

Thank you.

Dear Colleagues,

Does anyone have information about the survival of a language called
"Lemke"? My step-mother and I were talking the other night, and she
is certain that all Lemke communities in the Carpathian Mountains
region -- from which both her parents came -- have been obliterated.
I was trying to tell her that the villages might be gone, but the
language might still survive with speakers elsewhere. One person
recently told me that there is a strong community in Pennsylvania,
U.S. Can anyone confirm this? And what about in Europe?

Thank-you in advance for your help.

Is there anybody out there who knows the Cushitic language
Burji and could answer just a couple of quick questions?

I would greatly appreciate it, if someone could suggest a recently published
text (or texts) for an undergraduate FIRST LANGUAGE ACQUISITION course.
