[We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.]

Subject: Numbering Examples in Word

Can anyone recommend a resource, preferably that can be used with MS-Word
on Mac, that will automatically re-number sentence examples used in a text,
like when you suddenly remember that vital example that needs to go in near
the beginning of your paper, and means changing all the following numbers?
MS-Word 6.0 can handle figure captions, but with line-throws that don't
look so good for sentence examples. As this is something most linguists
presumably have to face, I'll review anything I hear of and send a summary
to the List.

Paul

Dear Netters:

I am the organiser of an e-mail list on LSP for the
Scandinavian Countries under the auspices of NorFa
(posting Languages: Norwegian, Swedish, Danish,
English, German). In order to get as much information as
possible for the list, I would be interested in information
on all other lists on LSP or on translation that you may
know of. Please post directly to me, and I will post a
summary.

I am making this request for a colleague who is not on the list. He
is looking for information on first names used by the Mormon community:
origins, distribution, trends, etc. He has already checked all the
bibliographic resources we have here, as well as talking to the LDS
historical reference people, and has only turned up two possible
references:

John R. Krueger. 1979. An analysis of the names of Mormonism. Bloomington,
   Indiana.
Carlos E. Asay. Family Pecan Trees. (I'm not at all sure I've got that
title right, but I think that's what he said. The author is correct.)

His name is Tom Trusky, and if you do have any information for him, you
can send it directly to him at:

rentrusk at idbsu.idbsu.edu

If that doesn't work, you can send it to me at:

renryder at idbsu.idbsu.edu

Thanks!

Mary Ellen Ryder
