Visiting Instructor in Japanese Language for a duration of 2 modules

TPI Technologies is a technical documentation firm, specializing in the
 development of technical publications and video presentations for the
 automotive industry. Our products include vehicle owner's manuals, service
 manuals, and competitive comparison studies; technical training programs; and
 production line machine setup and maintenance documentation.
 
One of our current contracts with a major automobile manufacturing company
 requires the services of a computational linguist to begin work in the
 metropolitan Detroit area in January of 1996, for a period of one
 
    Manage the vocabulary development process for an English to French
    machine translation system
    Develop English language training material for service technical
    authors
    Train technical authors in use of controlled English
    Participate in development of machine translation quality evaluation
    methodology
 
Minimum qualifications:
 
    MS/MA in computational linguistics or equivalent experience
    Outstanding teaching skills
    Excellent oral and written English language communication skills
    Knowledge of the French language
    Additional desirable skills include:
	
      Native or near native fluency in both English and French languages
      Experience with Common LISP
      Knowledge of or fluency in other major languages, especially German or
      Spanish
      Technical writing experience
      Technical automotive knowledge

			   JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
 
	  INSTITUTE OF HISTORY AND PHILOLOGY, ACADEMIA SINICA
 
     The Linguistics Division of the Institute of History and
Philology, Academia Sinica invites applications from citizens of the
Republic of China for research positions leading toward tenure track
posts. Currently, one tenure-track position is open, but non-tenure
track post-doctoral positions pending budgetary approval are also
available. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be
given to those in the following fields: phonology (and phonetics),
semantics, Chinese dialect studies, and Chinese minority languages.
 
     Applicants already holding a Ph.D. will be considered for the
position of Assistant Research Fellow (equivalent to Assistant
Professor) or Post-doctoral Research Specialist.  These are purely
research positions and no teaching is required.  The minimum salary is
NT796,140 (about US$29,500)/yr for Assistant Research Fellow and
NT$576,000(about US$21,333)/yr for Post-doctoral Research Specialist,
plus bonuses.
 
     Applicants should send a vitae, transcripts from graduate school,
an abstract of the dissertation (including the title, chapter by
chapter summary, methodology, materials, and main conclusions), and
