REMINDER
[We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.]

Subject: Query About Recent Study on IE History
I have heard that a recent study by three Pennsylvania (I believe)
scholars used a new algorithm to resolve some questions about the
priority of Hittite, and the proper place of German in the history of
Indo-European languages. I believe the NSF funded this one. Could
anyone refer me to the study, or perhaps summarize it?
Thank you,
Birrell Walsh

Dear Linguists,
Does anyone know of a Russian language and or/linguistics discussion list?
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the Internet, so I can't access the
List of Language Lists mentioned by Jane A. Edwards recently on Linguist.
Thanks,
Linda Formichelli

Subject: Topical Dictionary
Dear Linguists,
Do any of you have knowledge of a "word book" arranged by topic, a
topical dictionary, if you may? If so, would you be so kind as to
indicate where I might find such a book or work or perhaps any
bibliographic information that might be useful. Thank you.
