POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:  SPANISH APPLIED LINGUISTICS
 
UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO--ALBUQUERQUE
 
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University
of New Mexico announces a tenure-track vacancy at the
Assistant Professor level, in Spanish Applied Linguistics.
Candidate will teach and direct graduate students in applied
linguistics, and will serve as coordinator of lower-division
Spanish.  Ample staff support will be provided.
Requirements include:  Ph. D. completed by August 19, 1996,
native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.  Preferred
qualifications include demonstrated excellence in research
and teaching.  Assignment will include teaching graduate and
upper division courses in the area of specialization.

vitae, sample of scholarly work, teaching evaluations, and

The following position is advertised pending final approval:
 
Eastern Michigan University has a tenure-track opening
for an Assistant Professor able to teach graduate and
undergraduate phonology, as well as sociolinguistics and/or
other areas such as language acquisition and computer
applications in linguistics.  The Eastern Michigan University
linguistics program has a small faculty committed to offering
a general linguistics curriculum at the B.A. and M.A. levels.
We are seeking someone with teaching flexibility as well as
teaching strength.  So we will also consider outstanding
candidates with sub-specialties other than those listed above.
 
All candidates must have the Ph.D. in hand by the time of the
appointment, teaching experience, and evidence of strong
research potential.  Send letter of application, complete
