                        PHONOLOGY POSITION AT PENN
 
The Department of Linguistics of the University of Pennsylvania invites
applications for a tenure-track position in PHONOLOGY at the rank of Assistant
Professor, beginning July 1, 1996. The Ph.D. must be in hand or near completion
at the time of application. An established record of effective teaching,
especially at the undergraduate level, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate
will also have serious research interests in a related area such as morphology
or another subdiscipline. Preference will be given to candidates who can
contribute to the tradition of interdisciplinary research at Penn, both within
linguistics and across the cognitive sciences.
 
The deadline for applications is NOVEMBER 15.

     The Ohio State University invites applications for professor and
     chair of the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures (DEALL).
     DEALL comprises fifteen regular faculty in Chinese, Japanese, and
     Korean.  It serves one hundred undergraduate majors and has doctoral
     programs in Chinese and Japanese focusing on literature, linguistics,
     and language pedagogy.   Candidates must have a record of scholarship
     and teaching appropriate for appointment at the rank of full
     professor.  Field of specialization open.  Evidence of administrative
     ability and leadership in developing academic programs desirable.
 
     Salary competitive.  Deadline for application:  November 10, 1995.
