Dear Colleagues,

The Indiana University Linguistics Department announces the
establishment of the Fred W. Householder Memorial Fund, established to
aid deserving IU linguistics students at critical points in their
studies. We feel that this is an appropriate way to honor Fred's deep
commitment to linguistic research, both his own and that of his many
students. Contributions may be sent to the Linguistics Department,
322 Memorial Hall, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN 47405, U.S.A.
Checks should be made out to the IU Foundation, account
no. 38-AS58-01-4. Donors will be acknowledged in the department
newsletter. (If you prefer not to be listed in the newsletter, please
let us know.)

Paul Newman, Chair, Linguistics Department

Linda Schwartz, Chair, FWH Memorial Fund Committee

                         Kurdish Linguistics Net

We are currently setting up a mailing list of people active or
interested in Kurdish linguistics (Kurmanji, Sorani, Zazaki,
Gorani). The idea is to form a regular correspondence network as a
forum for exchanging ideas, research observations, bibliographical
references, and data, and perhaps to organize workshops and
conferences on Kurdish Linguistics in the future.

The Kurdish Linguistics Net is not exclusively an e-mail list, so if
you are interested in joining, but do not have regular access to
e-mail, you are welcome to do so by regular mail.

A selected bibliography of recent publications on Kurdish will be made
available on the LinguistList as soon as we have completed a first
version of the Net's mailing list.

If you would like to join the Kurdish Linguistics Net, please send the
following details (those marked * are optional) - preferably by e-mail
