  Announcing a new web page containing information about the American
Sign Language Linguistic Research Project (ASLLRP).  ASLLRP is a
collaborative research project, involving researchers at Boston
University, Dartmouth College, Gallaudet University, and Rutgers
University.  The project consists of two components:
 
1) Investigation of the syntactic structure of American Sign Language.
 
2) Development of a multimedia tool, called SignStream, to facilitate
access to and analysis of primary data for sign language research.
Each of these projects is currently funded by the National Science
Foundation.

projects, as well as information about relevant publications and the
project participants.

Dear Colleagues,
 
  We are looking for US schools that are willing to participate in a
project of cooperation between Europe and the US -  The objective of this
cooperation is to promote student-centered higher education and training
cooperative activities between the European Community and the United
States.

The deadline for submitting the  proposal is  JAN 26, 1996.
 
Here are some of the ideas - more ideas will be welcome!
 
The European partners will involve the following
 
A)  (Liceo Linguistico "G. Deledda", IPSC "Jacopo Ruffini") Genoa, Italy
B) 1 partner school in Portugal
C)  Chamber of Commerce, Genoa
D)  University of Genoa - Business School
 
 
Here are a few notes of our objectives:
 
Joint development of high school curricula that will allow direct admission
of the participating students to the higher education partner institutions
 
Recognition of Credits or B.A.  certification  on Maritime Economy and
organization
 
Promotion  of multilingual and multicultural education
 
The exchange will promote virtual and actual transatlantic mobility
 
Virtual mobility and Distance Learning
 
-  teachers, trainers and adminitstrators and students, via E-mail  plan
subjects, content and procedures to devise a student-centered curriculum
that will allow direct admission to the program in the higher education
institutions participating in the project .
 
-the participants will be working on hypertext projects and construct WEB
pages focusing on issues regarding international trade, law and
institutions, harbour economy directly concerned with their local
situations as well issues that will involve broader cultural issues
(literature, film, songs etc.).
 
 
 Transatlantic Mobility
 
-The students of the participating schools will be admitted to attend
intensive programmes at the Higher Education institutions in the countries
involved with subsequent recognition of credits at their own institutions.
