 The Department of Asian Languages and Literatures at the University
of Auckland expects to have, pending final apporval, a tenure-track
position at the rank of Senior Lecturer (equivalent to US Associate
Professor) in Japanese Linguistics. Applicants must have a PhD in
the area of linguistics, have native or near-native competence in
both Japanese and English, have demonstrated excellence in Japanese
language instruction, and have proven commitment to scholarly
research. Preference may be given to candidates who have a
specialisation in one or more of the following areas:
sociolinguistics, syntax, morphology, pragmatics, second language
acquisition. Candidates with other areas of specialisation are also
