Hello:
I am studying the acquisition of tone by adult second language
learners of non-tone languages - specifically, English speakers
learning Chinese, but I am interested in more general information,
too.
While I have looked at a few studies of first language
acquisition of tone, and native language processing of tone, I would
like to see more of this kind of information. Also, the information I
have on second language tone learning is mostly anecdotal. Does
anyone know of references I should look at?
        Thanks.

Friends,
I need your advise for a somewhat important situation. I have
ftped several documents from Rutgers University's Optimality database.
These documents are in PostScript file, extension .PS. I have been
unable to open them, much less print 'em. I have tried Word, WPerfect,
Corel Draw, Acrobat Reader...but to no use. I don't even have access
to a Macprinter, which I think would make things easier.
Anybody has any good suggestion as to, preferibly, how to
convert them to a compatible, windows format? Any shareware/commercial
program out them for this kind of low dirty job? Any comment will be
much appreciated. JAPena japena at ns.inter.edu

Dear Subsribers,
I am looking for cases of diachronic development of front rounded
vowels from the influence of adjacent segments (ie the inflence of
dental consonants on preceding or following back rounded vowels).
Please respond to me directly : hombert at univ-lyon2.fr
