The INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SPEECH TECHNOLOGY invites contributors to
submit papers for publication on the topic of:

TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES USING SPEECH AND LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGIES

The Guest Editors for this special issue are Sara H. Basson, Ph.D.,
and Hong Leung, Ph.D., NYNEX Science and Technology, Speech Recognition
and Language Understanding Laboratory.

Speech technologies have moved into mainstream telecommunications, such
as operator services, information provision, database access,
and customer service bureaus.
Papers submitted for this special issue should either:
- Provide detail on deployed or deployable services that are completely
or partially automated using speech or language technologies, or
- Describe ongoing research and development for telephony-based services.
Relevant technologies for this special issue include: speech recognition,
speech processing, language understanding, text-to-speech synthesis, and
speaker verification. The papers should identify key features accounting
for the success or failure of these services, and also offer insights about
the unique challenges of working within this arena.

All prospective contributors should contact Dr. Sara Basson
(sara at nynexst.com)or Dr. Hong Leung (hcl at nynexst.com) on or before
March 29, 1996:
