We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

A graduate student at my university is looking at questions in
biblical Hebrew. Does anybody know of any syntactic analyses that
have been proposed for biblical Hebrew that have been done in a
generative framework?

His primary interest, in fact, is in exploring the pragmatics of
so-called rhetorical questions in biblical Hebrew, so if anyone has
any leads at all on either interrogative structures in biblical
Hebrew, or the pragmatics of rhetorical questions, both of these would
be enormously helpful to him.

Please post to me directly and if there is any interest I will
summarize for the list.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am doing a PhD in second language acquisition on the nature of
initial grammars. I'm looking for longitudinal spontaneous data from
both children and adults learning French, German, Italian or Spanish
as a second language - the learners' first language may vary too,
e.g. English, French, Italian, or Spanish. Data must have been
collected from the very first stages of acquisition on. If you know of
some sources for the data I'm interested in (or if you have such
data!), please let me know! Thank you for your help.
