The Department of English, University of Aarhus, Denmark, announces a

Applications are invited for a three-year Ph.D. scholarship in English

preference will be given to applications in the areas of second
language (L2) acquisition research and/or research on
bilingualism. The fellow will conduct experimental research and will
work closely with the new professor of English Language, Ocke-Schwen
Bohn. Of special interest are applications specializing in L2 speech
(segmental perception and/or production), or in research focusing on
morphosyntactic or lexical aspects of L2 acquisition and/or
bilingualism. Candidates should have a solid background in a
discipline relevant to the research (e.g., linguistics, ESL, Speech
Science, Experimental Phonetics, Cognitive Science, Experimental or
Developmental Psychology). Qualifications: The Ph.D. scholarship wil
be awarded in compliance with the rules set out in Ministerial Order

degree must be completed before the commencement of the
Ph.D. scholarshi period.

Applications: Applications should be made on the relevant application
form (to be obtained from the English Department, Aarhus University,

the thesis,
   - proposed participation in courses (equivalen to six months^ work)
   - proposed participation in research networks/environments (e.g.,
through periods of study in research environments outside the mother
institution, preferably abroad),
   - proposed activities involving communication of specialist
knowledge (e.g., teaching, conference participation).

This plan should be drawn up in consultation with Professor Bohn, who
will function as supervisor. (Until June 30 Prof. Bohn can be reached
in Kiel, Germany, by telephone: +49-431-880-2400, fax:
